Pronunciation: /əˈplaɪ/ Explain
To apply a rule is to use the rule to help solve a
problem.[2]
Example: Start with the expression 3(2 + 1). Now
apply the
distributive property of multiplication over addition and subtraction.
The result is 3·2 + 3·1.
